Alexander Lukashenko visits Church of the Holy Prophet John the Baptist near Minsk on Orthodox Christmas

The bright holiday of Christmas is celebrated today by the Orthodox Christians. Our President traditionally shares this special day with the believers.

Alexander Lukashenko visited a new Orthodox church near Minsk in a small agro-town Shershuny. The President personally approved its design. He wanted the church to be comfortable and cozy for those simple workers who live on this land. The realization of the dream of local residents became possible thanks to the patronage. The church is named after John the Baptist.

In such small places as Shershuny the church becomes not only a center of spirituality, but also of social life, where one can come for prayer and help. Compassion, care, support, concern for people's problems is especially valuable in our difficult times.

By the way, this church opened its doors to parishioners a little more than 3 years ago. It was in 2020. Despite the attempts to rock the country, Belarus stood firm. We have managed to pass all these years without shocks. Of course, there is a lot of work behind it. In the church, the President spoke sincerely about what awaits us next year. We have moved from the Year of Peace and Creation to the Year of Quality. And each of us should make our own contribution to its fulfillment in our own place and in our own sphere.
