Belarus has spent over Br484,000 on renovation of historical sites since the beginning of 2016, Natalia Khvir, the head of the historical and cultural heritage protection office of the department for historical and cultural heritage protection of the Belarusian Culture Ministry told reporters on 27 October, BelTA has learned.
"Around Br602,307 was allocated from the state budget for restoration and reconstruction of historical and cultural sites in 2016. More than Br484,801 of this amount has already been utilized," she said.
Natalia Khvir noted that since the beginning of 2016, the Culture Ministry has issued 238 permits for restoration works. As many as 74 pre-commissioning reports about the results of renovation projects have been drawn up.
Natalia Khvir also noted that the State List of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Belarus currently features a total of 5,552 sites.
As many as 774 of them are located in Brest Oblast, 949 in Vitebsk Oblast, 884 in Gomel Oblast, 713 in Grodno Oblast, 675 in Minsk Oblast, 1,080 in Mogilev Oblast, and 477 in the city of Minsk.
