Belarus produces over 1.7m tonnes of meat in 2022

Belarus produced more than 1.7 million tonnes of livestock and poultry meat in 2022, head of the main department of livestock and fishery activities intensification of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry Natalia Sonich told BelTA.

According to Natalia Sonich, 1.735 million tonnes of meat was produced in all categories of farms in Belarus in 2022.

“Everyone knows that we did not reach the desired level of grain harvest in 2021. Because of this, a number of agricultural organizations felt a shortage of mixed fodder. Most of the cattle were fed grass fodder, which does not provide the average daily gains we would like to achieve. In addition, due to external circumstances at the beginning of 2022 we could not quickly reorient the import of protein raw materials for the compound feed industry - for our pig and poultry farms. However, within a month we were still able to find new markets and supplied our feed industry. It still should be noted that all these events have affected our volumes and production rates,” the specialist explained.
