Belarus plans to rearrange national export promotion system

Rearranging the national export promotion system is listed as the first priority in the Export of Belarus program 2016-2020, reads the draft program posted on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for public discussion.

"The main goal is to rearrange the Belarusian legislation governing export promotion taking into account the international practices and the Belarusian economic model," reads the draft document. This includes rearranging the normative legal framework, introducing new approaches to the training and deployment of personnel specializing in export promotion, and changing the format and organizational support for exports of goods and services.

The draft also suggests strengthening the information and communication component of export promotion efforts and making a wider use of exhibitions, fairs and congresses.

The main objectives of the Export of Belarus program also include "ensuring the implementation of the agreements by the Eurasian Economic Union partners to remove barriers, restrictions and exceptions in the trade in certain types of goods and provision of certain types of services, particularly energy, assembled products, to liberalize road transport and other sensitive issues. Another goal is to lift the existing sanctions of the European Union and the United States against Belarusian companies and prevent their broad interpretation.
