The 29th installment of the International Festival of Modern Choreography IFMC 2016 will be held in Vitebsk on 22-27 November, BelTA learned from the Vitebsk culture center.
The festival will open with the Giselle premiere by the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus produced by famous Ukrainian choreographer Radu Poklitaru.
The current competition will be international (it alternates with national competition annually). According to its rules, the Grand Prix is awarded to a remarkable choreographic work debuted at the competition in Vitebsk. Organizers inform that the applications are still open. The finalists will perform on 26 November. The festival has also invited guests: Evgeny Panfilov Ballet Theater from Perm that will show the ballet "She" and the premiere "Son of Mr Piero from Vinci/Mona Lisa".
The program will also feature the premiere AkhmatModi by Autre Compagnie MiNa, the shows "There" from Jo Stromgren company (Norway) and Devoid by NANOHACH company (Czech Republic).
The closing gala and awards ceremony will take place on 27 November. At the close of the event the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus will perform the ballets Six Dances and La Petite Mort.
The festival has been organized by Belarus' Culture Ministry, the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater, the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee and Vitebsk City Hall, and the Vitebsk culture center.
