Belarus’ CEC prepares for presidential election
MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus is actively preparing for the forthcoming presidential election, BelTA learnt from Secretary of the Central Election Commission Nikolai Lozovik. “The Central Election Commission is now very busy preparing for the forthcoming presidential election. All the draft documents that can be prepared now, before the election date is announced, are in progress,” the CEC representative said.

KGB disrupts two illicit drug supply chains to Belarus
MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – In August this year the KGB Department for Minsk and Minsk Oblast disrupted two international hashish supply chains to Belarus, BelTA learnt from the department’s press group. Two citizens from the Middle East states have been detained at the Minsk national airport. They are both students of the Minsk universities. The two are currently under arrest. A criminal case was opened under Belarus’ Criminal Code Art.

Belarus’ export to Ukraine up 1.5 times in January-July
KYIV, 7 September (BelTA) – In January-July Belarus increased its export to Ukraine 1.5 times over the same period last year and reached $1.3 billion, BelTA learnt from the trade and economic group of the Embassy of Belarus in Ukraine. The supplies of potash fertilizers skyrocketed almost 18 times. The export of Belarusian tractors and tractive units soared almost 4 times (up to $49 million). Sugar export went up by 2.

Belarus might produce self-propelled potato harvesters
PRUZHANY DISTRICT, 7 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has ordered to consider a possibility to manufacture Belarus-made self-propelled potato harvesters. He made this statement as he visited the Otechestvo company in Pruzhany District on 7 September, BelTA has learnt. The head of state noted that it is necessary to thoroughly analyze whether it makes economic sense to produce such machines in Belarus.

Belarus’ export may double by 2015
MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ potential is strong enough to double its export by 2015, BelTA learnt from academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Piotr Nikitenko who took part in the development of the national export development program 2006-2010. “The fulfillment of the task is possible if the GDP’s annual growth makes up 6-7%. This is a lower bound, the indices that should be fulfilled and even over-fulfilled if we aim better living conditions in the country,” the scientist believes.

Lu Guicheng: Day of Written Language provided better knowledge of Belarus’ cultural heritage
MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) – The Day of Belarusian Written Language gave a chance to get better knowledge of Belarus’ intangible heritage, its culture and literature, BelTA learnt from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Lu Guicheng, who attended the Day of Belarusian Written Language in Khoiniki on 5 September. “It was the first time I visited Gomel Oblast and this wonderful holiday that impressed me much,” the diplomat said.

Belarus President makes personnel appointments
MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made several personnel appointments on 3 September, the press service of the Belarusian head of state told BelTA. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko appointed Vasily Markovich Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Czechia. Before that Vasily Markovich worked as Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Belarus in Czechia.

Korea to share its e-governance experience with Belarus
MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – A delegation of the Korea Institute of Public Administration (KIPA) is set to visit the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus on 4-9 September. The KIPA is a government-sponsored organization devoted to independent research on public policy and administration, BelTA learnt from Professor Igor Gancherenok, provost for academic affairs of the Belarusian Academy of Public Administration.

Alexander Lukashenko believes that he criticized the government a while ago not in vain. “They say that the government will be forced to retire, that everyone who is in the government today will aim for the presidency.
